The Clay Club met last night and there was a great turnout for the "pot on the spot" critiques. Led by Linda McFarling, Shane Mickey, and myself, we were able to have a big group critique of about a dozen or so pieces. I hope we will continue this discussion as it's helpful for everyone to learn more about what we're trying to do with clay. So much of what we do is in solitude and inside of our own heads. This is a way for the group to consider the options and make suggestions. Twenty heads are sometimes better than one.

Here are a few plates I made after supper tonight. They were completely unrehearsed, quick, and fun. I always love to see Matt Grimmett's slipware and from time to time give a go myself. I have a ways to go!

I found Stacey sneaking up to the shop early this morning to work on her pots. If I'd known she could turn like this I'd a handed over my Shimpo a long time ago. Why didn't she just ask?

Actually, Stacey helped set up the shot for my 2009 Mill Creek Baseball Card! This year's set will benefit The Studio Potter magazine. I'll fill you in on the details as we get closer to the unveiling of the whole set, which will be available at NCECA in Phoenix, AZ.

I hope Stacey won't hesitate to come up to the shop for more collaborations, wink, wink, nod, nod, say no more!

I've been kept busy pretty much all day. Either it was a phone call, visitors from the NC Welcome Center out on I-26, getting today's loaf of bread in the oven, sorting out old Ceramics Monthly's, raking dirt in the bright sunshine, or drinking several cups of coffee from this "YouKnowMe". Everything but turning turning the 300 lbs. of reclaim that I wedged last night into fresh pots...
