I wanted to mention that my New England Connecticut Yankee cousin Hayne (Bayless) will be presenting a lecture about his work at Appalachian State University on March 23rd. The talk will begin at 7 p.m. in Wey Hall at the Boone, NC campus.
From the ASU web page:
Hayne Bayless, whose slab-built pots encompass both harmony and tension, operates Sideways Studio in Ivoryton CT. He has a BA in journalism from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and cofounded the pottery programs at Fairhaven College and the Lakeside School in Washington. He teaches numerous workshops in the US and Canada, including the Penland School and Arrowmont, and exhibits his work widely.Hayne will also be making a few pots. That will begin at 10 a.m. in the ceramics studio, Wey Hall #119. I hope to see you there. The public is invited. Contact Lynn Duryea: duryeal[at] appstate[dot]edu for more info.
